In an announcement today, New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez said he will introduce comprehensive immigration legislation that would give 11 million undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship. The bill could be introduced as early as the end of this month. It would provide the legislative details of an immigration blueprint introduced by Democratic leaders earlier this year. Menendez is currently looking for support from both sides of the aisle reaching out to potential Democratic and GOP co-sponsors.
Menendez’ announcement comes on the heels of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s move yesterday to bring a separate immigration bill, the DREAM Act, before the Senate next week.
