Conservative Latino Group Tells Latino Voters to Stay Home on Election Day

A new conservative Latino group is trying to silence voters in the upcoming mid-term elections by telling Latinos not to vote.

The Virginia-based organization, Latinos for Reform, is responsible for a Spanish –language ad currently running in Nevada whose message is, “Don’t vote.  Yes, you heard right, don’t vote.”

Attacking President Obama and Democrats over “broken promises” on comprehensive immigration reform, the spot accuses Democrats of having betrayed Latinos but fails to mention that not one Republican supported any efforts to pass immigration reform.

“This is the only way to send them a clear message,” says the ad’s narrator of Democrats. “You can no longer take us for granted.”

Robert De Posada, the group’s president and a conservative political consultant, says the view in the ads is what many people are feeling.

Even though it was Senate Republicans that refused to support any efforts on immigration reform, the group asserts in an op-ed posted online that Democrats “intentionally undermined even the smallest of reform efforts.”
