Top Latino Leaders Hold Symposium during Latino Inaugural 2013

Latino Inaugural 2013
Top Latino leaders and influential Latino organizations will hold The Futuro: Talks About the Road Ahead symposium this Saturday, January 19th in Washington D.C., leading a series of talks on how Latinos can increase participation in the civic life of the country.

The symposium, sponsored by the American Latino Heritage Fund, is part of the larger Latino Inaugural 2013, and it’s a space where strategies on how to increase Latino civic engagement beyond the voting booth and turn participation into activism will be developed. The sessions include discussions on the economy, Latinos and the media, immigration reform, education, and Latino power.

During each session, a prominent Latino voice will address the issue, followed by a panel discussion with two additional experts, where the audience can submit questions and feedback via social media. The final two minutes of each session will be a “call to action,” providing resources and strategies for guests to take back with them.

The symposium will take place at the Organizations of American States, located on 17th St. and Constitution Ave. (entrance 17th St.) from 9:30am to 1:00pm.
