Latinovations Member Featured on CNN en Español Discussing Rise of Student Interest Rates

Jose CNN
Latinovations’s very own Jose Aristimuno was featured on CNN en Español yesterday to discuss how doubling student interest rates would be devastating for Latino students.

Because nearly 67% of Latinos rely on financial aid to pay for college, the increase of interest on Subsidized Stafford loans from 3.4% to 6.8% will affect many Latino students for their college tuition payments.

Latinos with student debt, like Aristimuno, feels that Congress needs to act now to prevent student debt to rise even higher.

“The average Latino student takes on an average of $22,886 in student debt,” says Aristimuno. “So with the economy still recovering, and so many of our brothers and sisters still hurting, there is no excuse for Congress to avoid making this a priority in their list.”
