Today, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (NY), Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), appointed Latinovations founder, Maria Cardona, to the Democratic Victory Task Force. Cardona will join members of a select group chosen to provide comprehensive assessments and recommendations on ways the Democratic Party can enhance its performance in future elections and better serve its constituencies.

The task force is comprised of ten members including Naomi Aberly, Governor Steve Beshear (KY), Donna Brazile, Marc Elias, Teddy Goff, Maneesh Goyal, Colorado Democratic Party Chair Rick Palacio, Lee Saunders and Eric Schmidt. Wasserman Schultz said she was, “eager to work with them to build on what we’ve done that works, identify and prioritize challenges and ultimately improve our party’s performance in future elections.”

As a seasoned Democratic strategist, Cardona brings decades of public affairs, communications, coalition building and multicultural outreach experience to the task force and is excited to collaborate with the other members. Together, the members of the task force will create a strategic blueprint for the party and will present their initial findings in February during the DNC’s Winter meeting.

During her announcement, Wasserman Schultz noted that,“This diverse group of Democratic Party officials, strategists and advocates will each bring with them expertise from their fields to collaborate on a holistic review of the Party’s past performance and present actionable areas for improvement moving forward.” Latinovations would like to congratulate Cardona and the other task force appointees and wish them well as they tackle this critical work.
